about

"The Growth Years" records the first period of DWL. There is a well received beginning from Dec '06 - March '07. The founding trio collaborated not only on DWL, but 2 more between March and November 07, each band lead by the other DWL founder, got me? I lead DWL, Joe Bengry led trip-pop quartet Zecki Am Sun, and Anthony T. Schatz led theater pop orchestra, Rainbow and the Kittens through 2009 with options for reuniting. Shane Schneider joins the band in January '07 with "Frantic Walls". A trio tour to Sacramento with Shane, Joe, and myself generates friendships in Joe's hometown of Sacramento. After that, DWL goes through awkward phases as new players join and the balance of sound is thrown (those players and recordings did not make it to this release). The most interesting collaboration to occur in DWL after the trio tour would be a Sacramento band in November '07 (Nelson, Saalman, Trudeau). After that, more attempts were made to balance the group and include new players, new sounds. The next album picks up when there is stability, right around Spring 2008.
